Mobile Comunidad is a nonprofit corporation in accordance with the Texas Business Organizations Code. According to the TX BOC, “nonprofit corporation” means “a corporation no part of the income of which is distributable to a member, director, or officer of the corporation except as provided by TX BOC Title 2, Chapter 22, Subchapter A, Section 22.054. Mobile Comunidad is currently seeking their 501(c)3 status from the IRS, which will allow them to provide donors with a receipt for tax deduction purposes. Until that status is received in the coming weeks, Mobile Comunidad can accept donations as a registered Texas nonprofit and provide retroactive tax receipts under IRS rules once the 501(c)3 designation is issued.
